I have a strange encounter with a file write corruption. Straight from OOC jpeg:

Is this a sign something is going to spoil soon?

Somehow lucky star was shining upon me that day and the RAW file is fine.

Lucky you. I have plenty of images where the raw files look the same, some of them will even crash SPP during processing attempts. In my case it only happens with certain compact flash cards, which I do not use again after it occurrs, although they test perfectly fine on the computer. Also I avoid turning the camera off while it is still writing its buffer to the card (which really should be no problem). But the real reason for that file corruption might be something completely different.

What I found with my SD1 is that many images require 3 to 5 steps of "fill light" in SPP to show an even exposure. With the SD10 fill light was almost never required. And usually I get better results by pushing shadows during processing than by reducing blown highlighs, therefore I tend to rather underexpose with the SD1. "Expose to the right" does not really work here (for me!).

Max

Thanks for the tip there. I bought 2 brand new Sandisk ExtremePro 32GB CF card for this camera. Sad to hear it is related to the cards.

Those are what I use in the DP3M, with no problems at all. Maybe your contacts are dirty, or you have fake cards. However, I find that faults like the one you show happen when the battery is running down.
