Actually, logically, it most certainly is! When you consider how many laws exist and how complex and ambiguous they often are, it is not logical to expect anyone, including lawyers, to know every law and to abide by them. That's the main reason why you don't talk to police without a lawyer.

Logically it is... but legally it isn't.  Legally is the only thing that counts.  When you're doing scandalous business, the only thing that matters is whether you're LEGALLY operating within the bounds of established law... irrespective of whether you're being heartless, cunning, or overly aggressive.
