Lightroom/Photoshop collaboration on one photo, how to do it best?

Hi!

I have the LR/PS CC subscription.

At times LR isn't enough for what I want to do on one photo and I need to send it to PS. When I hit Save in PS I get a new copy in TIFF format that takes up a lot of harddrive space and also what I get back into LR is a new image that lands at the side of the RAW and it inherits the same flag etc marking as the RAW file has, which is good. But I also need to unmark the RAW file so that I only have one image in LR displaying this particular scene.

Is there a better way to do this that I haven't understood?
