Strange lens problem after minor drop

Hey all -

So I have the Canon 50mm 1.8 lens.

Yesterday, in a rush to pull equipment together, I dropped this lens about 2 feet onto our hardwood floor... ugh.

I've been doing this for years and never dropped a lens... but whatever, it happened.

So I race to my camera, put the lens in because it looks fine, take a picture, and think it's all fine... until afterward the shutter doesn't re-open. My viewfinder stays black.

Mind you, the camera was safe - and not dropped.

So I take off the lens, look at it again, and it all looks fine - so I put it in. Take a picture, and voila, it works - until it doesn't after that one picture again.

If I leave the lens on and I try live view mode (5D Mark II) it opens and I can take pictures, but once I switch from live view to viewfinder, it's black.

I'm at a total loss. Obviously I did something to this lens - but I'm hoping maybe there's something more software-y that can be done.

Anybody else ever have this happen?

Thanks for any help!
