In praise of "old" lenses
6

Occasionally in a DPR forum, I read negative comments about "old" lenses. Sure, they do not have autofocus, don't communicate with modern cameras, but....for some of them..."they built better than they knew."

I shot this today with an approx. 45 year old Nikkor Q Auto 1:4 200mm(I.e. an f-4 lens) on a Nikon D5500. I was quite pleased with its sharpness*. (ISO 100, 1/160, f-8-11). Minor PP & crop. (hey, that's what the "M" setting is forĀ  )

* I don't know how much DPR will mangle it, but on my monitor it's razor sharp.

Comments always welcome.

Specially built bulk cement carrier, returning empty at 11 knots, calm sea.
