Win10 Networking drives me nuts.....

And it is a very short trip.....

So I just updated my very, very old laptop/netbook MSI u100 with SSD (did not help with speed at all but my clumsy wife dropped it a few times because the whole laptop is clumsy) and installed fresh Win10.

I enabled file sharing, disabled firewall completely (or at least I think I did) gave "Everyone" permission.

Laptop connects to Network and Internet. Wired and wireless with wifi.

My other laptop "sees" this new one but would not connect. So after several different things I have tried I decided to Reset Network on my main laptop.

Big mistake. Now my main laptop does not even "see" itself under Networking computers. It can still connect to other computers if I type \\computername but noting shows up in Computers.

I have followed several articles about "services" but they are all on. SMB client is on. Network Discovery is on (obviously) Password sharing is off.

I mean I have done it hundreds of times but this time I am at odds.

Why can't I see my own computer at least in Networking?

Why can't I connect the new laptop if it is completely unprotected?

And to add insult to the injury the new unprotected laptop can connect to other computers on network if I type //computername.

Very, very strange.
