Like you I don't want to spend time in front of a pc editing.
I saw the link that you provided and I learned of the dpp4 software. It is considered better or preferable to use this program than photoshop or lightroom?
Thanks again.
That's only a question you can answer. I have considered switching to , but I have stuck with DPP4 for a couple of reasons.
1. It's free! I don't consider myself a photographer, not even an . I simply don't take enough photos to warrant a monthly subscription.
2. It handles picture style properly. Lightroom emulates a few of the basic canon picture styles, but it doesn't support customised picture and will ignore any picture style you shot within . Yes, you can create presets yourself, but I simply don't have the inclination at this point to experiment recreating my customised picture styles.
My workflow works for me for the time being.
1. Shoot raw+jpeg
2. either transfer the jpeg to my whilst travelling, or straight into apple photos on my mac when I'm at home. Either way, it to the cloud and appears everywhere.
3. Backup raw to my NAS.
4. Do basic edits to jpeg in Apple Photos. If there's anything I've messed up or particularly want to improve, then I'll use DPP4 with the raw, export as a jpeg and bring back into Apple Photos.
Others people will probably cringe at my process and tools, but hey, it works for me. The only thing I wish would happen is canon to make DPP for ios. That would cut down a lot of processing and make things simpler. I understand ios12 is going to improve photo import and raw handling.... fingers crossed.
