My time lapse dilemma - which companion for my G85?

Hi everyone,

I bought a G85 a few months ago and am enjoying it. I've discovered that one feature I really love is time lapse.

This creates a problem in that my G85 now spends a lot of time on a tripod, leading me to think that a second body would be a good idea. I strongly prefer a Panasonic body for my second, mainly to have a consistent interface and because I really like Pana's time lapse implementation.

I'm torn between:

- Used G6, G7, GH3 or GH4 w/ battery grip as a dedicated time-lapse rig. I'm not sure I really need a dedicated rig, and I don't like the kludgy aftermarket battery grip for the G6/7. Old GH bodies are still fairly pricy, and generally just way more camera than I need for this. And, another SLR-style body is not ideal. Overall, seems like a bad fit.

- a GX850 to pick up the slack when the G85 is tripod-bound and as an upgrade on the GF1 I still enjoy from time to time. Cons: MicroUSB, no external power options (?) so this is only for short time lapses if any. A bit more money than I'd like to spend.

- waiting/saving for a 20 MP compact body (either GX9 or a hypothetical GX950), turning the G85 into my secondary, largely tripod-bound camera. Also more than I'd like to spend, but patience and planning can alleviate that.

I'd appreciate any thoughts, advice, comments.
