You are welcome (I think)...

After examining several YouTube vids on what 2.5D is and what details are required, it appears to be an extremely intensive manual process for use on a 2D image.

I struggle to comprehend the amount of work required to perform that process to a stereo PAIR without inducing obvious retinal rivalries and other stereo artifacts. Some elements in the pair would be treated identically in left and right views, while others would not be identical.

Just cloning the backgrounds in and of itself would produce obvious artifacts in a stereo image (unless they are at infinity, or better, featureless).

Not that it can't be done, but, Ouch!
