Re: Lens for Canon SL2 / 200D

Be aware of focusing problems with the Sigma 18-35mm using the view finder.  Try before you buy if you prefer to compose with the view finder.  If you will use it with Live View make sure if the latest firmware update works good enough with your DPAF system. Chances are good it will work fine with DPAF.

The sigma at f/1.8 is way sharper than the EF 50mm stm at f/1.8. The 50mm has good sharpness from f/2.8, but is too soft for me at larger apertures. The Sigma has a nice focal range for shooting indoors.

Using speedlights is often a good thing. Results will be often even better if you combine the speedlights with a large aperture. The harder a speed light has to work, the larger the chance you will see the disadvantages of using speedlights, so larger apertures will also help.

If a diffusers works depents on the room where it is used. It won't work everywhere.  It works best with not to big rooms with white walls and ceilings.
