I don't think you are going to get an answer you will be satisfied with until you buy a the 12-40 and test it yourself. If I were shooting landscape stills on M4/3 only I would use the 12-40. I just don't think it's credible that a cheap and slow kit lens will outperform what is universally regarded as the best M4/3 lens in it's class ( the 12-40). Then again if you are after the very best imagery with corner to corner detail I'd not recommend the M4/3 system as a basis for getting this either.
