Re: Consider Panasonic G85

My G85 manual says on page 29:

MP4 motion pictures with a [Rec Quality] size of [4K]:
Motion picture file will be recorded and played back in separate files in the following cases. (You can continue recording without interruption.)
– When using an SDHC memory card: If the file exceeds 4 GB
– When using an SDXC memory card: If the continuous recording time exceeds 3 hours and 4 minutes or If the file exceeds 96 GB

The maximum available continuous recording time is displayed on the screen.

Thus, if you are recording 4K using MP4 and you are using a SDXC (64GB or larger) card, the video will not be split until 3 hours or 96GB. I would have to imagine that the GH5/G9 have similar options.

You would need to use a fast enough memory card (UHS U3 or faster -- the manual does not mention UHS-II) in order to record 4K video.

Note I have the G85 (USA version) which does not have the 29 minute and 59 second restriction due to the European tariff that the European versions (G80/G81) have.

Thanks for that clarification, Michael.
