The Fetish of Manual Exposure
13

It seems that recently, amateur and beginner photographers have taken on the idea that using Manual exposure makes them a better photographer.  I don’t understand the fetish with Manual exposure, or if these people are truly using Manual exposure. Have any of you noticed this as well?

In an age when you can preview or review your exposure instantly, it’s not an impressive feat.

I mostly do shoot Manual, with and without AutoISO. But I don’t see it as being very different from Aperture priority mode, for example.  I just don’t understand why people seem to think it makes them a better photographer.
