Running 2 speed lights parallel with 'Y' cable

Hello

I would like to use 2 speed lights for high-speed sync (1/1000 and above) for extra lighting oomph and quicker re-charging.

The problem I have is that, although both flashes are identical in every other way, one does not have RC capability and can only communicate with the camera via a flash cable.

Specifically, both flashes are Olympus - one an older FL50 and the other an FL50R (that can be controlled via RC) - used with an EM1. Neither FL50 can be used as the control flash - only a small detachable flash that came with the EM1 can.

So I'm asking anyone with the right savvy about electronics, etc, if I can use both flashes using a split 'Y' cable from the camera hotshoe?

I'm thinking that the communication from camera to flash might not be an issue, but having 2 flashes having different data coming back to the camera might.

Any potential damage that could happen if I try?

Would it be possible in full Manual FP flash maybe?

Any help/info greatly appreciated. Thanks.
