"Say cheese" - X-E3 in Switzerland
Jun 6, 2018

We made a short visit to Switzerland and it was not a photography trip. I thought , that a very portable system is enough. I took X-E3 and only one lens 18-55. This was also sort of a rehearsal before some longer visit in future. We made a couple of walks with friends who kindly took us to places like Lauterbrunnen. I tried not to make others wait for me - took fast snapshots
I think i learned something:
1. X-E3 is very portable and comfortable to use, quite fast too - my best traveling camera ever. Also the good old 18-55 performed flawlessly.
2. IQ is exceptional (compared to my Canon cameras - even FF 6D) - i shot only full size RAW images and not compressed because the compressed RAW files do not co-operate so well with my iMac. Absolutely enough of details and the dynamic range is great - DR is needed on a sunny day in the Alps.
3. High ISO is quite clean - did not take many nightshots, some ISO 10 000 shots in the tunnels
4. software is more important with X-E3 than X-T1 - or Canon . For example Picktorial produces nice true colours , but somehow it does not rescue the highlights so well. Capture One 11 works perfectly with these huge Fuji RAW files. Especially the very white shining glacier/mountaintops and the white clouds can be adjusted - even if they look like blown out. I do not own LR ...
5. they really eat cheese in Switzerland !
Some fresh snapshots - it was difficult to avoid the typical "post card" style when the weather was like this :
Local school ...
Cows everywhere - i think they enjoy the view
Old skiing gear on the wall

We have all dreamed of a walk behind a waterfall

Cows near Zürich - there is a guy playing some music to them with an alp horn - i think cows enjoyed it

I started SLR photography in 1968, first DSLR was Canon 40D in 2007. Now Fuji X-T1 and the new 80D are my favourites - also 6D for landscapes and portraits
