Yes this is true, the corner softness is caused by lack of DOF (and wanted) in some of the images from my first reply. I only posted these images to give an more throughout overview about the lens performance. But you are right, it's a bit confusing to post these images in thread about lens softness ...

But for me these images, particularly the flower and market ones have a good sharpness in the center/focus area, at least for my eyes. These images was shot at the short end (18mm). But there is a good chance that they look only good to me because i don't have the same shots stopped down for comparison.
