Re: going on from that

Anyone using the G9 can tell me how smooth the touch screen AF is to change focus point when shooting video. I`m using the G7 and to be honest using the touch screen is about as good as it could be. I could be tempted into the G9 because reading reviews the EVF is brighter that the G7 and the FPS would be better for what I want to do.

Thanks

One of the things I am trying to decide on is the transition between clips, I have always just used fades in the software but am starting to shoot flowers etc with foreground in focus and then background in focus. Playing around with the G7 and using the touch screen to refocus all in the same clip is the alternative to shooting two clips and fading between them. I`m trying to decide which is the best way to go. I`m finding that refocus foreground and background in the same clip (although a nice smooth transition) doesn`t seem to be having the same impact on the screen as fading two clips together. There just seems to be more impact with two clips and the fade. Fading two clips together also allows me to use the G7 at it`s strong points and also my xt2 at it`s strong points (I have more lenses for the XT2 with wider apertures) It`s also less hit and miss shooting clips with one focussed point if you know what I mean.

Because the XT2 doesn`t change the focus point whilst shooting with the smoothness of the  G7 does  restrict me to shooting everything with the G7 and loose the advantage of my Fuji lenses. Matching the colours and tonal range along a video isn`t too bad with modern software as long as you use the same camera for each subject if you know what I mean. Added to this and after the latest Fuji firmware upgrade I have started to use FHD 4x slow motion setting that really enhances plant and water life slowed down just a touch with gentle movement of things like grass etc. The difference of a clip of a flower when a bumble bee lands and then takes off just slowed down a touch really can add that little bit of something special.

Anyway, I`m ranting on but would be very interested at any ones input of there own findings and way of working.

(this is what comes from being retired with more time on your hands
