That's it: my Em1.2 is gone before I destroy it.

I’ve used Panasonic for many years, but March 2017 I also bought an EM1 MK2. I find a big help is to configure them similarly. For instance the histogram button on top of the EM1 changes ISO as per the GH5, the back lever on the EM1 switches between SAF and CAF which is close to the way a GH5 works bar manual focus where I can use the lens collar. Front and rear dials on both cameras are set to perform the same functions and rotate the same directions. The one big thing I can’t change is the opposite zoom directions of Panasonic and Olympus lenses, but that would require electronic zoom to be customisable which I’ve yet to see implemented well.

Now I find some things are quicker with Panasonic and others with Olympus. Interestingly if the G9 had been announced earlier I would never have bought an EM1 MK2 or a GH5, but having since seen the distorted G9 viewfinder I’m pleased I did.

I’m still waiting to see a camera that doesn’t have some functional deficiency for me, be it lack of Bluetooth GPS (EM1-2), missing hi-res mode (GH5), distorted viewfinder (G9), missing articulated screen (A7R3). At the end of the day these are not show stoppers so I just get on and use what makes me happy, technology has progressed so far since the days of film we are so lucky. The enjoyment of taking the photo for me is as important as the photo itself, so if the EM1 MK2 doesn’t make you happy then you are doing the right thing to change to what does.

A man after my own heart. I agree with every word you wrote.
