strange that with a Nikon camera to shoot electronic shutter i just select "electronic shutter"

with an EM1 MKII

1 Press the HDR button.
2 Select one of the items marked ♥ using the rear dial and press the Q button.
3 Shoot.

totally logical...what were Nikon thinking

With Olympus it actually is:

  1. Press Shutter mode button
  2. Select Shutter mode with electronic shutter with rear dial
  3. Half-Press Shutter to activate selected electronic shutter

You press one button on top left dial for Sequence mode, you use the rear dial without loosing right hand grip or taking camera off from your eye to select electronic shutter mode among all shutter modes and half press shutter to continue.

When you want to go from electronic to mechanical, it is same process. Want to go from single to sequence low, high, delayed etc. All are in one location.

You wanted to sound that with Nikon you just press "ES" button and that is it, so you little over simplify it as you can't use Nikon electronic shutter without mirror up position. So you can't just go and enable it and be done with it.

Far easier on Olympus than on Nikon.

well if i am wrong so is the Olympus manual i copy and pasted from.....no wonder people think the menu system can be weird especially if the manual is fubar

you can get silent shutter on a Nikon that doesn't have a mirror........
