I agree the arrangement of the menu items is a muddle, but it seems to have become an article of faith that it’s a big problem. Actually you don’t need to touch the menus in most shooting situations.

This is the point. With a good camera user interface there is no need to go to the menus after initial setup phase. My experiences with Olympus have been negative, but it seems that this setting can be changed in the preparation phase from SCP. Again, here is a link how to setup and use your camera:

I advertise this post/page because it's the best I have found about the subject. While I love Panasonic Lumix cameras, I think it's absolutely necessary to change the wheel functions when starting to use the camera. It's kind of cool not to read the manual, but it's absolutely totally not cool to complain if you did not read it. For Panasonic users it's not enough to read the brief manual. Go through the advanced manual.
