Advice on a good, affordable macro lens for insect photography on Canon EOS 800D

Hi all,

I've recently bought a Canon EOS 800D camera which came with a EF-S 18-55mm 1:4-5.6 IS STM lens. I study insects so would like to invest in a macro lens that's suitable for moths, butterflies, caterpillars, spiders etc. My colleagues have recommended the Canon MP-E 65mm and the Canon 100mm f2.8 L USM, but these are a bit out of my price range. Are there any comparable but cheaper lenses out there? Also, what (affordable) peripheral accessories will I need?

Cheers!

Canon EOS Rebel T7i / EOS 800D / Kiss X9i
