Birding disappointment: Canon 100-400mm IS II
1

I enjoy, but am a casual bird shooter, well casual photographer but spent over 4hrs doing my first proper birding at Idle Valley (near Retford) a couple of days ago.

On the whole I've got pictures with birds in it rather than pictures of birds.  Just too far away.  It was a lovely sunny day so I might have got something out of using an extender but really I guess I'd need at least twice the reach and possibly more to get those waders etc.

Ah well, I'll stick to the Robin in the back garden.  He/she's happy to pose near enough that I can fill the frame and more unless any has any affordable solutions.
