Re: The 7 Artisans lens is exciting

Even though it is not a M43 lens (yet), it is pretty exciting that an acceptably sharp 35mm f1.2 is available for under $145. I just glanced at one review and it seems like a great purchase. Now if we could just get one at 23mm it would be awesome. Anyone tried the Zhongi 23mm f1.8 yet?

I met a guy making an UWA lens from the SLR Magic factory, Laowa are interested in making what we want and then there are these others making manual, interesting lenses. Exciting times ahead for those who like budget options and manual lenses.

Instead for now you could get the C mount Pentax 25mm f1.4 which vignettes in most aspect ratios but is still worth having for the extra punch and character for video, 1:1 photos and 16:9 with just about acceptable vignetting. Clickless aperture and smooth, easy focusing add to the fun. It is miles apart from the Fujian toy lenses.

7Artisans makes a 25mm f1.8 for m4/3. It's not razor sharp, but for $69.99 usd it's a great buy. It has a certain contrast amd color rendjtion that, to me at least, gives a "retro" look without appearing gimmicky.
