Move from a D4 to a D500

I am currently using my D4 with an 80-400 to shoot birds and wildlife. I recently sold my 500 f/4 as I was struggling to manage its weight due to health and advancing age problems.

As expected, I do need more reach and have been using a 1.4 converter, but the results are  not great. So now I have to make some decisions. The way I see it, my options are:

1. Replace the 80-400 with a 200-500. I can manage the weight, but am worried about the 200mm side. Today we came across a pod of rhino crossing the road and my wife who was using a Tamron 150-600 could not get focus as the pod was too close. Too much lens.. I was shooting at 100 mm.

2. Replace the D4 with a D500. Avantages are less weight and a newer AF system. Also the 80-400 becomes a 120-600 lens. Disadvantage is that I am trading down somewhat.

My other FX lenses are the 14-24 f/2.8 and 24-120 f/4. But since replacing my old D300 with a Fuji X-T1 I never use the FX lenses as they are just to cumbersome with the D4. Much better for me to grab the Fuji with a prime or two. So my ongoing use of Nikon gear will be for wildlife only and Fuji for everything else. Will most likely sell the 14-24 and 24-120.

Not quite convinced about Fuji for wildlife yet, so not considering the Fuji 100-400 yet.

So what will be the best option for me? Replace the 80-400 with a 200-500 or replace the D4 with D500? What will I lose in the process?

Any other suggestions?
