First video with Canon G7X MkII - a little disappointed

It was a very sunny day yesterday here in London so I shot a video of my bicycle with my G7X MkII. I had it mounted on a Manfrotto tripod. Video resolution was 1080p 50Hz (PAL setting). ND was switched ON as it was very sunny.

I wasn't that impressed with the results when compared to my iPhone 7 - which I've used for all of my YouTube videos so far.

Two issues struck me:

1. You cannot get very close to the subject - I imagine I have to use the zoom?

2. The auto-focus struggled a bit.

The video was loaded into iMovie to add titles and then uploaded to YouTube at the original video quality.

Here's the G7X MkII video:

And here's a video of the same bike from last year recorded with my iPhone 7 (a lot of wind noise as I did not remove the audio track)

Whilst the G7X video looks a lot clearer to me and colours look better (as it was much sunnier), the focus on the iPhone 7 video was better, and it was a cloudier day.

It was my first video and no doubt future ones will be better. If there's anything obvious that I'm missing in terms of settings or any advice that you guys could offer me then that would be very much appreciated.
