M104 The Sombrero Galaxy, a galaxy within a galaxy
22

Here is my best image of M104. I took some of the luminance during a period of very good seeing and got some nice detail.

On reading up on the Sombrero galaxy there were some very interesting facts.

Firstly its 2 galaxies Its a circular/spiral galaxy formed by unknown forces inside a much large elliptical galaxy.

Secondly the black hole is the most massive known.

Thirdly some of those "stars" in the upper bright halo are globular clusters of stars. There are quite a few.

Anyway a very interesting galaxy and challenging to image and present. I've processed it to show the large elliptical galaxy's halo of stars.

The Sombrero Galaxy, a galaxy within a large elliptical galaxy.

Greg.
