Upgrade Nikon 400mm f/3.5 to Fuji 100-400 f/4.5-5.6?

I recently bought a Nikon 400mm f/3.5 and got an very good deal. (I paid about 1/3 of the going rate on eBay, although I didn't know that at the time of purchase). I bought this lens because I couldn't afford the Fuji 100-400mm.

I've been using it to take photos of birds and other small animals, but I bought it because I'm going to Yellowstone soon and wanted a telephoto lens.

I also have the Nikon 1.4x and 2x teleconverters.

But I now realize that if I sold it, I would be able to buy a used 100-400mm for close to the same price.

Pros of the Fuji:

  • Auto focus
  • Zoom so a bit easier to find subjects (although with practice I'm getting better at finding them on the ikon)
  • Smaller
  • Much lighter

Pros of the Nikon:

  • Faster at 400mm

I'm not sure what to do. What about IQ at 400mm? The Nikon is very good, but it's also way older so maybe the Fuji is better? What about the teleconverters?
