Water damage to an RX-100, LCD screen broken
My secondhand RX100 suffered saltwater damage when my underwater housing leaked. The camera still takes pictures, but the LCD screen is dark.
I took off the back and found what appears to be corrosion from the saltwater in the bottom right of the camera. There's a narrow blue cable ribbon that should connect the screen to the motherboard. This cable is torn in half and I suspect this is the problem. It's like the salt water ate right through the cable and broke the connection with the screen.
Here's a picture. The damaged area is in the bottom right of the photo.
I found this YouTube video and several sellers of replacement screens, but it's not clear if a new screen would include the blue cable.
Am I on the right track? Is this fixable for less than what I paid for the camera (under $200)?
I'd appreciate any advice.
