Which AF points do you use?

I have a Nikon D600 so the cross type more accurate more quicker AF sensors are onto in the middle. Generally with any brand and model of a camera - which AF points do you use? Do you deliberately use the cross type ones or do you use any? I don't do much action photography but I would imagine the side less accurate AF points is quite handy, so if one doesn't crop that much they are still pretty OK do you just accept that or ....?

I shot some studio portraits with a camera club and some of the shots were not tack sharp but they looked alright when not magnified in. But usually I have time and I just use the middle AF point and recompose every shot.
