Re: +1 Weight Deciding Factor

OK, you have now heard all the wonderful things about the ti7, but let me add this. I just tried out both cameras at the store, with some idea of one for my mother. I also own the SL1, so showing my bias.

The SL1/2 series is an entry level DSLR, nothing more. But, it's claim to fame, and what it does incredibly well, is offer nice DSLR experiences at rock bottom WEIGHT. I carry my SL1 on vacations for just that reason. It is light and small, point and shoot size, with a great lens lineup (they are also light). I found the ti7 to be almost the weight and size of my 6DMKII, and I don't always want to haul that one around.

So it really depends on what you are after, and what you need. Both are excellent cameras, and both are quite capable. Just depends on what you use your cameras for.

Good luck with your decision and your shooting - with whatever you choose!

Ditto. I bought the SL2 for travel, so I wanted the least amount of weight. I looked at the 77D (I would skip the T7i and go right to that model if I was going to upgrade), but I really wanted to go as small as possible.

The SL2 has been a very pleasant surprise. It handles well, takes great shots. The sensor is the same as the top of the line 80D, has great detail and contrast. It punches way above it's weight (and cost).

I have the 24 pancake, the 10-18, and the 55-250. When I want a bit shallower DOF for portraits  I use the FF 50mm. Other FF lenses work exceptionally well, especially the 16-35F4L- wow!

I only miss my 6D when the lights get low. I never miss the weight on my shoulder!

But yes, the number of focus points are a bit of a limitation- but no worse than my 6D.
