Need to make a decision, longish tele

Trying to built a decent kit for my X-E2 which hopefully will stay with me for years to come even perhaps on a different/better body down the line.

I currently have:

  1. Fujinon 16-50mm OIS II
  2. Fujinon 23mm f2
  3. Samyang 12mm f2

Only thing missing is something in the telephoto range to cover the 50+

Some considerations:

  • I mostly shoot travel/documentary/cityscapes
  • Past experience has shown that the specific lens will see minimal action

I am currently between 2 cheap choices in order to keep the cost down.

  1. Fujinon 50-230 f-whatever
  2. Samyang 85mm f1.4

Obviously pros and cons in both cases

Samyang PROS

  • Better IQ
  • Better built quality metal etc.
  • Insanely faster

Samyang CONS

  • Heavy
  • More expensive
  • Manual focus
  • Fixed focal length

Fujinon PROS

  • Lighter
  • Huge focal length range
  • Has AF
  • Cheaper

Fujinon CONS

  • Flimsy construction plastic etc.
  • Very slow
  • Average IQ

My logic says to go for the Fujinon because as said the specific lens will not see a lot of action and it is much cheaper. It is also lighter and the focal range will surely be more convenient.

But, i also want to built a system of decent glass. Forgetting about the 16-50 for a moment (that i got with the body dirt-cheap) the rest of the purchases were made with this in mind.

Would appreciate your input on the matter.

Fujifilm X-E2
