Do you see this over Oly’s own RAW processing?

Yes.

The trouble with OV3 is that it does exactly (well, very close) to what the camera does to make jpegs. That includes noise reduction that helps reduce fine detail and edge halos from sharpening, even when you try to set both to minimum or off.

In some eye-watering pixel peeping efforts with side-by-side testing I also found that DxO delivers better edge to edge detail as their lab created body+lens profiles appear to work better than just the canned lens data coming from the lens into the exif data.

So the DxO basic profile plus added user adjusts to create a new custom profile and all seems well.

Plus DxO makes use of the edge pixels that the camera jpeg ignores, so a bit of extra width in the image can be found.

Using the Prime noise reduction on any ISO also seems to help resolve very fine detail a little better, but that is also in eye-watering pixel peeping land.

The default Olympus jpeg output has always been a bit too red, just watch the colour of any grey concrete or bitumen roadway or the "brilliance" of any red postbox or red car in the scene. That needs to be toned down a little, and it seems to me that DxO does much the same, so I had to also wind back the redness a bit.

Regards...... Guy
