Has anyone figured out a solution that accomplished tethering a Gfx to an iPad? Can’t really find any clear solutions for Fuji camera in this area.

I'm not a Mac user. Sorry. But, have you looked on page 211 of the Owner's manual? Looks like you will need one of two plug-ins. Also requires Lightroom and one of two Mac OS systems neither of which seem to be used by iPads.

there is the fuji plug in which enables wifi tethering....which is pointless IMO, not sure if it can even do raws, but it would take too long anyway....jpegs are probably ok, but i am assuming you are looking for a raw solution.....

afaik the issue is with apple, they dont give anyone access to the connector....otherwise we could have a pretty solid solution....the iPad pro can definitely handle the gfx raws....

i would love to see adobe come up with something, LR mobile is pretty amazing, but even there, importing means going through the SD card reader into camera roll first (no previews for fuji raws) and then import into LR from there.....

if capture would support GFX, we would be able to use the C1 iPad solution which really is a a regular computer/laptop solution of course but provides a wifi "terminal" for the iPad....

i think it might be easier to find a pc solution to shoot into a tablet directly....microsoft or wacom look pretty good but you have to deal with windows.....and the ones with enough storage and power are much more expensive.....

i have been looking for a solution to tether to iPad for years, but unfortunately unless apple gives developers access to the lightning port it wont happen....I am sure a lot of people would love to see something but compared to all iPads sold this would still be a hopeless minority....

afaik hasselblad has an app/solution that i would love to see for fuji....direct wifi connection iPad to camera but instead of sending over the raws, it acts just like the rear LCD along with zooming and rating.....i think it keeps all files on the card/camera but sends (for example) ratings over to the camera.....i guess it is really just sending over previews and only sends more information when necessary (zooming in,..) but it works really well and fast....like holding the rear LCD in your hand...on a much bigger screen.....

Wired tethering could be a thing of beauty, I'm really surprised no one has found a way to make it work.

For wireless tethering the Fuji app is pretty bad, but Cascable works well when connected with the regular in-camera wifi (jpg only, of course), however it's not officially supported and I can't get it to work with a portable router which is a real shame. I'm emailed them several times but they need more requests before they'd look at officially supporting it. The reason it would be interesting on the ipad pro is if they added a feature to automatically download jpgs to the ipad itself, and they say they're looking into this. If so, then it may be possible for Lightroom mobile to automatically add these files to a catalogue and then suddenly we have a decent cataloging and review function which can be taken make to the main computer later on, which is where it could be useful professionally. Fuji should probably just buy Cascable and do it all themselves.

The last option is tethering to a laptop running Lightroom and then using Astropad to mirror the display to an ipad pro, which is what I'm doing.

i have contacted cascable several times, i am sure they are a small crew and they do support a lot of cameras....

it comes down to what wants to achieve.....

full raw workflow straight into a solid DAM? hardwired tether to either a laptop or PC tablet into LR.....works great, fast, available right now....

wireless raw wont work for a while because the data is just too much and connection are too slow.....for now, who knows what the future holds, but regardless, it will be a while....

jpeg "workflow" for preview and quick distribution...this should work fine over wifi with existing fuji app....

wired tether to iPad...yes, we all want it, but apple wont let us have it....and not just us, the data port on iOs devices is locked off....to anyone other then apple....dont see this changing anytime soon.....

i have been thinking of getting a surface just to run LR on it for wired tethering....

there is this article on tethering (as well as a mobile workflow) with the X1D....it seems like an advertisement but i am sure it more or less should work like he says it does, and i think the newer surface(s) are cheaper and faster, so i dont see why it shouldnt work.....and once LR is running, there should not be too much difference between that and an iPad....
