Hi guys, still have the 50 and 60 nestled next to each other in my Pentax camera bag!

Reading comments made me wonder , yet again, about the iq...spent several hours this weekend taking shots to compare, have to say the 60 def has slightly more detail, and IQ no way worse...

I have always run the 60 with sharpness down, and nr set to low. The cameras really only differ massively in handling, with the 50 nowhere near as fast to use.

Wont be selling  the 50 anytime though, its a fab camera!

All so weird, looking back. I still have the 50 and 60, and can say without doubt that the 60 is the better camera...what were we all thinking?

Its as though we wanted the 60 to fail, probably because it didnt defy the laws of physics to produce a much better IQ..

Almost a sheep like spell we were under...imo

Respectfully, quite the contrary. Virtually no one wanted the SX60 to fail as it brought many good things to the table. Unfortunately and by far, the weight of opinion is that it was inferior image quality-wise to the SX50. Many here, including me, are hopeful that the next iteration will keep the good qualities of the SX60 and improve its image quality.

Amazing how old the thing is and they are still charging £369 for it and the much more recent Panasonic FZ80/82 which seems light years ahead of it is £329. The imaging-resource comparison at ISO 3200 has much sharper images for the Panasonic than the Canon. It is very worrying that Canon have to put such a high price on such old technology or do people just buy Canon whatever they put out and they can perpetually skimp on specification. Rather depressing whichever way you look at it.

Honestly, I think that it's just the market speaking. If the SX50 wasn't worth the price it simply wouldn't command it. That it does is certainly telling. I'm in the camp that it's worth the price but others may feel differently. Regardless, if there are no takers then the price would fall. The SX50 is really a nice camera and not only for its reach but because it's just a great all around performer. I very much enjoy mine as many others do as well.
