Why are you worried by equivalence?

Just use your lens for what it is.

I, for one, would rather use a 35mm equiv than a 31mm equiv. To me, 31mm is closer to 28mm.

So?

Just use it for what it is. Is there a reason it has to be precisely 35mm? Is there a reason 31mm won't work?

Many users have been making great images from that lens without worrying about the exact maths. I don't own it so I'm not defending it. I just don't get the concern. If anything, for me at least, the fact that it is slightly wider would increase its appeal. Once I owned it though I wouldn't worry about equivalence, I'd just use it for what it is.
