Shooting B&W film vs. Colour film converted to B&W in post

So... I got nostalgic and bought an Olympus OM1 with a 50mm and 135mm (my original system when I started my interest in photography some 40 years ago).

I will be processing film in a lab (have no space for a darkroom) and digitizing it.

About 2/3 of my photos are in black and white.

Finally getting to my question...

Is it OK to shoot colour film and after digitizing it convert to black and white in post-process, or do you get MUCH better results starting with b&w film in the first place?

Asking because with digital I shoot in RAW and then have flexibility whether to keep it in colour or b&w.

Thank you for your advice...
