I was refering to White lenses as being "L" series lenses. "L" lenses are usually (but not always) white. The white is to keep the internal temperature down because of the coatings. It also keeps the lens from getting temperture distortions for long telephoto lenses. If you've ever watched heat waves coming off of a road, you can see what this would mean inside a lens. On a telephoto, these heat wave inside the lens spells distortion.Ron......
stupid question but, are you saying that white finish actually
costs more than black? I never even thought about that choice.
However, I think her offer is generous enough as it is, I'm not

My second choice for a long lens (If I didn't already have my 100-400L) would be the Sigma 50-500 .... what a nice chunk of glass.
