I realize that the histogram and highlight alerts are based off the in-camera jpgs but is there a way to get a histogram that more accurately reflects the RAW histogram?

Yes - web search UniWB for the details. Only do this if you shoot RAW.

Simple method:

  • Shoot an image with the lens cap on.
  • Set the custom white balance value in the camera from this image (Shoot2 menu, Custom White Balance).
  • Set your shooting WB mode to Custom

Now your in camera histogram will be pretty close the the RAW histogram.

The downside is your images will look very green in camera, and you will need to adjust the white balance of the RAW images in Lightroom.
