1DXMKII and 256 CFast memory card - What's going on?
1

I've noticed that my 256 CFast Mem Cards when used in the 1DXMKII slow down to a crawl. I was shooting Style Fashion Week in New York and in the middle of the shoot my buffer went crazy, the red light would stay on for extended periods preventing me from shooting. I froze at the shot below.

Then on a sports shoot the same thing happened even after I did a deep format. I froze at the shot below.

  1. Have others had this issue?
  2. Does a deep format cure your issue for a while?
  3. Do you have to do a deep format every time to assure speed?
  4. Does this happen whenever the card becomes populated and precludes top speed as the card fills up even if it's been deep formatted?
  5. Is there a perm fix?

This is what I read:

  1. https://www.delkindevices.com/fix-cfast-card-stops-canon-1dxmii-camera/
  2. https://www.dpreview.com/news/3307797076/canon-warns-against-use-of-sandisk-cfast-cards-with-eos-1d-x-mark-ii

I need every bit of 14fps in RAW for what I shoot.  I hope there is a fix for this

Thank you
