Canon Ipf8300 print head life.

My printer has one full block of BK ink missing in a nozzle check test print, I'm told the cause could be either the print head or the main controller. Can anyone tell me if this is heavy use or age for the print head? I'm wondering whether I should replace the print head even though the printer isn't telling me to do so. The printer prints fine, I get a 2F43 error which requires a restart, then prints fine again, but it seems to be using a lot of photo BK ink (I assume in cleaning) despite the fact I always print matt paper. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

this is the nozzle check
