There's not much as far as what you shouldn't do.

Not everything works perfectly but it does work well. There's little risk in damaging your camera despite the warnings. I've been using it since the 5D2 days and I still use it for my 6D, mainly for focusing peaking so I don't have to zoom in after taking a picture or for the little bit of video that I do.

In general, it'll aid you with video-focused features but it won't necessarily give you better quality. Some things you can do to improve quality are using dual ISO if your camera supports it.

I don't know if the t2i supports RAW recording but that will generally give you better quality but the recording time will be limited.
