Canon "Pro Studio" and LR and Canon Pro 100

So I got a new Pro 100 and it prints OK through Lightroom.

I installed Canon's software Pro Studio which I guess is ONLY a plug-in (?) and installed it in LR (I think--it shows up under Plug-Ins) but it can't find the Pro 100 printer (although LR finds it readily).

So I've spent now 20 minutes of my totally worthless time messing with Canon's software and am unable to get it situated and I am moved to ask this:

Is the Canon software worth messing with in the first place? Does it have significant advantages over using LR directly (w/o the Pro Studio plug-in)?

I mean, I'm happy to spend the time, but I would like to know beforehand if the Canon software is a wonderful addition to my current application (Lr) or a bo-hunk piece of dung foisted on unsuspecting Canon printer buyers?

Thanks for any clarity on this matter and any tips regarding installation should I press forward with same.

Cheers--
