Viewing medium and sensor size differences

Hi,

I noticed that the difference in picture quality is really big between different sensor sizes when viewing pictures on a computer screen. I don't mean pixel peeping, just viewing a regular size photo on a computer screen.

It is much less noticeable in print and somewhere in the middle on a TV or a smartphone.

For example, I have photobooks with printed pictures from cameras with a 1/2.3" (Panasonic FZ200), 1/1.7" (Olympus XZ1), micro 4/3 (Olympus E-P3) and APS-C (Pentax K5iis) sensors. Most of the time I can't really tell which camera they were taken with, unless there is a lot of bokeh in the picture. Even with bokeh, the difference seems much bigger on a computer.

What is the explanation for this?
