Taking suggestions from friends who don't know much about photography

Do any of you ever get annoyed or frustrated talking photography and/or taking suggestions from friends who think they know a lot about photography but they don't know much at all?

They give you a suggestion saying how this photo would look better this way or that way or they ask why it was shot like that, it should have been shot more in tight, you should do a heavy crop etc etc, but when you tell them why you don't do heavy crops or why you shot it wider or why you angled the composition the way you did...no matter how many times you tell them that their example or suggestion just wouldn't work and that you disagree with them, they just "DON'T GET IT." It's incredibly frustrating! They debate on and on and it's like what you say to them, goes in one ear and right out the other. They cannot relate to you. You tell them why you shot a photo the way you did and they argue about how their suggested way (by completely changing the composition or doing a heavy crop) is a much better photo. *sigh* Then send you an example and it looks like garbage. You tell them and they debate why they think their suggestion is magnificent.

You either have the eye for photography or you don't. I just don't think that people who "don't" have the eye for photography can relate to people who do have the eye. Rule of thirds, composition, exposure, the whole editing process, why we shoot wide in certain situations, why we shoot from all sorts of angles, etc.

Many (of the ones I know at least), just want the subject zoomed in as much as possible so that the subject fills the the entire frame and have it smacked down in the centre of the frame everytime. Photography is so much more than just point and shoot. You tell them this but they just don't get it even though they say they do.

What are your thoughts?
