OMD cameras in overcast lighting

One thing I struggle with in post production is pictures recorded in overcast conditions with my Olympus, it's a struggle to get them to where I feel they should be, always so dull, lifeless, plugged shadows... I've tried simple things like changing to 'vivid' setting on the camera but even still, that really doesn't help much.

Anything different camera wise anyone has tried when you're going to be in those conditions? With other manufacturers I haven't seen the same problems to the degree Olympus raw files seem to have with these conditions in the m43 format.
