Lumix G X Vario PZ 14-42mm better than M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm?

I want to have a compact zoom for travel and casual photo strolls, and currently I own the M.Zuiko ED 14-42. But I've to say I'm not happy with the results I get from it: if stopped below f8, the image quality is really poor.

I was considering to exchange it by the Lumix GX 14-42, but the reviews I can read are inconsistent: A sharp lens for ones or a mediocre one for others, no much different from the M.Zuiko equivalent.

Any direct experience using both lenses to say if actually the Lumix would mean a step forward in image quality, specially at the brightests f-stops?

Thank you in advance.
