Recommendations for inkjet print on laser "booklet" paper?

Anyone have tips for printing a photo booklet as you would get from kinkos / costco on an epson 3880 on the stock paper they use? It's a hammermill laser paper, 32#, 98 bright. Or a recommendation for a similar bulk inkjet paper? So far my attempts are not nearly as bright as the commercial ones.

Not sure what to select paper-wise or other params. My wife is trying to print from a windows word document. I've tried setting highest quality, fine detail, upping the ink deposition but it the results are pretty muddy by comparison.

I've had similar problems printing from gimp/gutenprint where I have pretty complete control of the parameters, but don't know how to tweak them or even if it will help.

Thanks for any pointers,

Gary
