Unnecessary condescension. Stopped down as you have to for landscape use, there is no difference to the 24-70 in resolution. And in adverse weather, the longer range offers additional benefits.

It's an unexpectedly good lens for its price, a lens generally appreciated by its owners.

The only reason not to buy it is if you need/want a faster standard zoom. I'd have the D FA 28-105 and use it in combination with primes.

This lens is a home run for me, and probably the primary reason I got a K-1 in the first place. Although I'm not thrilled about the slow intro rate of new Pentax lenses, everything they have released over the past few years has been stellar, IMO.

Yeah, I'd agree the 28-105 is quite nice, although obviously slower than some alternatives. But considering the range it's a beauty. I decided to get it over the 24-70, but then again I already have lots of primes in that general vicinity, so the 24-70 was kind of not better than the primes, and not enough range, while the 28-105mm will cover more.

With the money saved I also got an F 80-200 and an FA 28-200mm. Ancient, but surprisingly useful since they are quite light, although slow. And they cost me about $30/ (thank you Goodwill).
