Hi Deed,
Thx. I went to What Pho in 1986.... Distant days.
I've never been an X100 man. Nor can I see any point in owning an ILC and limiting oneself to one lens. (I did try the singe FL pathway on film but rapidly came to the conclusion that although I could work a fixed 35mm lens, I really didn't enjoy the constraint.) It was three lenses for me and for some time I traveled with an OM 24/2.8, a Tamron SP35-80 and an OM 135/2.8.
These days I can't travel as much as I'd like, but when I hike here in Oz, I often take my XT1 with a 16, 23, & 60 plus occasional 35mm or adapted 100mm. Obviously I haven't changed much - that's not much different from the 24-135mm range I used back in the film days. If I had to live with any two, it would be the 23mm and 60mm.
Cheers, Rod
Hi Rod, as you might know (not that it matters but anyway...) I used the RX1 and the RX1r for a little while (more than a year) and found the focal length in conjunction with the exquisite lens a true delight to use. The Zeiss is a 35/2 though, an F1.3 23mm - and it shows.
At this stage I find that those 2 systems within the Fuji offerings I use provide a nice little set of choices, small and light and also larger when weight doesn't matter as much.
I have just been in the jungle of Northern Laos and cursed myself for having taken the 90/2 with me (among other stuff, you know how this works??) as the extra weight whilst hiking uphill over extended periods of time was hell.
That one day at Wat Pho was an excellent showpiece as to how little weight you can get away with - and still not sacrificing quality as such.
