Re: Filter use G1x Mark lll - Lens Cap Alternative

Thanks to our friend above I tested the JCC Z-Cap Z-O14-42 for Olympus 14-42mm EZ lens at around $13 from Amazon.
It works like the Sony, and is as thin as you could imagine, but it is easily replaceable if it locks up partially or fully. The outer diameter is about 52mm which is more than the filter diameter and slightly less than the zoom ring so it doesn't interfere.
It screws on to the G1x III lens thread and makes the camera looks great and the lens cover opens and closes just like the SONY RX100. As described before the two tiny protrusions on the back are triggered when the lens opens and closes activating the lens cover instantly.
An additional benefit is that this cover is a bit smoother and slimmer (~5mm) with less edges to catch on fabric making the camera just a bit more pocket-able, which is important to me.

Thank you very much for sharing your practical experience with us.

I have one more question: is it possible to screw on the JCC Z-cap not directly to the G1X III lens tread, but to a filter?

Though the vendor page states the opposite (Note: You need to remove this lens cap when you want to use filters or lens hood.), I am not sure they have tried it on the G1X III...
